Isn’t it great, getting outdoors for summer? Problem is, all our biting friends also think it’s wonderful, the wasps, bees, midgets, ticks, mosquitos, they’re all at it!
What to do?
Well prevention is better than cure so use your insect repellent.
Wear light long cotton shirt, trousers and slap on a hat to deny those midgets access!
But what to do once bitten despite all your efforts to warn them off!?
1.Remove sting, tick or hairs. TIP: Scrape it out sideways with a hard edge.
2.Wash the area with soap and water.
3.Apply a cold pack on it. TIP: A bag of frozen peas would do the job nicely.
4.Apply an antiseptic cream, to prevent infection. Use paracetamol or Ibuprofen if required for pain. Use hydrocortisone cream and/or antihistamine tablets to tackle itching and swelling.
